About Us

Since its founding in 1962, the Maroubra Seals Sports and Community Club has been a cornerstone of the Eastern Suburbs.

Conceived by members of the Maroubra Seals Swimming Club and Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club, led by Bob Harron and John Shore, the club was established to serve as a vibrant social hub while supporting lifesaving efforts on Maroubra Beach. On August 11, 1964, we opened our doors, evolving from modest beginnings with squash courts, bars, and snooker tables into a leading community institution.

Today, our membership exceeds 12,000, and we employ 90 staff across our Maroubra and Seals at Red Rock locations. We are dedicated to fostering connection, bringing people together, and creating lasting memories. Our recent expansions include state-of-the-art fitness facilities spanning two floors, featuring a 25 meter lap pool, steam room, ice baths, advanced gym equipment, a wellness studio, an 18 bed reformer studio, and a group fitness studio. These enhancements have been warmly received, reflecting our commitment to promoting health and vitality.

In 2024, we celebrated our 60th anniversary, a testament to our enduring legacy. That same year, we successfully amalgamated with Red Rock Bowling Club, now known as Seals at Red Rock, located on the picturesque mid north coast of NSW. With its bowling greens, restaurant, bar, and function rooms, this club serves a strong local membership, and we are committed to collaborating with its community to ensure its continued success.

Strategic property investments around the main club have strengthened our financial position, diversifying income and securing our future. Since our inception, we have contributed $7,928,309 to local surf lifesaving clubs and charitable organizations, reinforcing our commitment to community support.

Our 10 Intra Clubs offer a diverse range of activities, from sports to social pursuits, providing members with opportunities to explore hobbies, stay active, and build friendships. Open to all Seals Club members, these clubs enrich our community and keep it vibrant.

Looking forward, our Board of Directors is developing a masterplan to guide our future growth, ensuring we remain innovative while honoring our heritage. The Maroubra Seals Sports and Community Club is more than a venue. It is a welcoming, dynamic space where connection and progress flourish, and we are excited to continue building on our legacy while embracing new opportunities.
